I also restored the router configuration to its original settings (not that those were ever customized either). I followed the steps found on the HP website to add the Windows Update required to get the needed driver but that didn't fix it either. To test I didn't screw anything up I printed a doc from hubby's computer and fired up my old laptop and also printed docs from the printer that's uncooperative with the new laptop. I reset the printer to its default wireless settings (not that those were ever changed in the first place) and retyped the password in to set up its wireless. I checked the wireless setup on the printer and all is correct. Wants the WPS Pin too or the network security key (password) to connect, but it says they are wrong no matter which way I try to connect. The printer shows up in the available networks list like its a separate network or something and it says it's "secured". Every time I type the 8 digit pin into the box I get a message saying it doesn't work. Keeps asking for a WPS Pin, finally found that in the router configuration. Tried connecting through wireless, USB from printer to computer and Ethernet directly from router to printer, all to no avail. Uninstalled software (more than once), restarted and re-installed. Followed it to the letter but it didn't fix the problem. Went through all the steps in a help file downloaded from HP called "Installation Failure-Unknown Device.hta".
